To be successful many people have role models or guidance to lead them the right way and while others have trial and tribulations to understand the way, like County Brown had to do.
Born as an 80?s baby, County Brown (CB) was inspired over many generations of hip-hop from his siblings and peers. As a barbershop kid sweeping hair, he was introduced into the hustle lifestyle of getting fast money and dealing with all types of people from different ways and learning how to deal with them. ?I was 12 years old hanging out wit grown men and develop my independence and street hustle a little faster than most people my age.?
The hustle that CB developed at a young age fell over into his music hustle into this day and age. At the age of 14, what is now called mix tapes, CB was already doing that before it was given a name.? I use to buy like 100 blank tapes and dub my songs and hand write the credits on each tape and sell them in the hood, barbershop or at JR. high. I use to DJ parties for people at my school so my connection to music was coming from every angle.
Fadel Level was the first group that CB was in, putting out there debut EP ?Ballin But Broke?, going by the stage name ?Da Joeker? before he became County Brown and his rap partner changing his name to Tommy Da Tyma. ?I came from an era were being in a group was the coolest thing like Kris Kross, Outcast, Top Authority, and 8ball and MJG.? CB was producing and recording everything in his mama?s basement at a young age and that became the birthplace of his company Addicted Dopeness Productions (ADP).
ADP produced developed, and distributed many St. Louis underground artists past and current. County Brown also took ADP in a different direction when he develop his relationship with radio personality Tossin Ted and Projocks entertainment by becoming head of their promotions, promoting national artist like the late Aaliyah and corporate company?s like Martell Cognac and coordinating music conferences and conference calls from 2000 to 2005. After years of writing, producing, promoting, distributing and developing artist, CB realized it was time to make his niche and movement through out the Midwest area. In 2006, CB built his on professional studio and debuted his solo album ?The Re- Up? which sold over 15,000 copies independently, he was chosen to be placed on 15 different mix-tapes from the buzz he was creating, and made numerous appearances in hip-hop shows and media outlets.
By not being a greedy artist County Brown found a way to give back to artist?s in 2007 and that was creating the successful ?Top Ten Tuesdays? movement. Top Ten showcase the Top and up in coming artist through out the Midwest creating an atmosphere were tastemaker?s, CEO?s, DJ?s, and media could network and hear Midwest music get broken in a party atmosphere. He also followed up wit the Top Ten Mix tape showcasing only St. Louis artist.
2008 is sure to be another successful year for County Brown as an artist, CEO, producer, and new title DJ, yes DJ. CB was signed on by the national known ?Hittmenn DJ?s? as a mix tape DJ for the success he has had in the mix tape circuit. He also will be dropping ADP mix tapes and another certified solo underground album this fall and guest appearing and doing production for various artist nationally and locally. As a true County Brown fan would say when you see him on the grind ?What up, County Brown MANE!!!!!!!!?
